yep, back in the Google index!　Pretty cool huh? And guess what?　Our googletestad page is right there at number 15...　That's made me a happy chappy! Looking forward to creeping up in the Google SERPs once again.

Hooray for MSN!

MSN has no problems at all finding and indexing this page and our googletestad page, but what's the problem with Google? After originally doing so well in Google, our page isn't even in the first 1000 results (although this site's index page is at No. 72).

Amazingly this site's index page is at No.4 on MSN and our actual googletestad page is at No. 6! Gotta be happy with that.

As usual, Yahoo is slack and is yet to find this page or the other page!

Out of Google!!

Our page has dropped out of Google! Not really surprised as this is probably an example of the sandbox effect. On MSN our googletestad page is number 6 but this page you are reading is number 5!! This page is also number 79 on Google's search results for the keyword googletestad. Strangely, the page keeps popping in and out of Yahoo's index so it is hard to get a fix on it at the moment.

After another week of me not doing much to the googletestad page these are the results:

Google lists it at No. 15

MSN lists it at No. 14

Yahoo hasn't even indexed it yet

There is still a few spam pages between us and the top 5 positions on Google, however with Bigdaddy spam clean up we will definately rank higher.

On MSN there are just a couple of spam results so I will have to work harder to move up there.

I will update the page tomorrow. Wordtracker reports googletestad as the No. 13 most searched keyword in their surge report last week - incredible!

I have put up a few more links to the googletestad page on various websites. Pagerank for the page is now PR2. There is still a bit of spam ahead of us in the SERPs but we are slowly pushing them out of the way. Ranking on the Bigdaddy SERPs is at #19 today.

At the moment my googletestad page is #10 on Google! Pretty neat huh? However, calm down. These are the old results, not the new and improved Big Daddy results. Interestingly, my article is at #9, but as title only (no description of the page). There are only 85,200 results showing for the term googletestad as well. #1 position is a spam site which is using an illegal javascript redirect - definetely a no-no according to the Google webmaster guidelines.

Back down to No 121 on MSN

Well, my page went from #6 all the way down on MSN search. Probably had something to do with the "freshness" factor but it will definately go up because at #121 it is behind even all the spam pages in the SERPs. Interestingly, my article is at #11 on the MSN results.

Tomorrow I will write the good news about the page's position in Google :-)

Moving up in Google

Well, our site has been visited by Google and the pages are starting to appear in the SERPS. Fortunately our googletestad page is in the index and after disappearing for a while has now reappeared at No. 16 (previously 23). Another good note is the article I wrote is at No. 5 in the Google SERPs! Things are going well, but it may take up to a year to reach No. 1.

No 6 on MSN

Today we went from not in the Top 250 to number six on MSN.com for our keyword. Looks like with a bit of tweaking we can get higher. Seems MSN likes our meta tags and the freshness of the page. Will add some more content and see how it goes.

We are out of Bigdaddy index

While our googletestad page was in the old Google index, Bigdaddy hasn't crawled or indexed this page yet. This means that our page doesn't show up at all when Bigdaddy results are shown for a Google search. This is but a minor setback, as I believe that we will be quite high in the BD SERPs when tey are finally indexed. In the meantime we are still No. 23 on the old index.

Checked Google today and my page was number 23 in the results. Not bad for first entry. I will add the keyword to the meta description and meta keywords and see what effect that has.

googletestad - we want to be number one

In late january 2006, I decided to put the lessons I've learned about SEO into practice, and decided to see if I could go from zero to number one for a particular keyword.

After digging through my WordTracker list of most popular searches, I came across a very curious keyword that has been searched for 100s of 1000s of times. It was a very strange word, I'd never seen it before - the word was googletestad.

Now why would I want to optimize a word like that - a nonsense word? well... when I first did a Google Search for googletestad, there were around 100,000 results in Google. 100,000 pages that contained the word googletestad!! Amazing.

I looked at the top 10 results and thought - "I can beat them". Quite arrogant I know. So I made myself a googletestad page, made sure my keyword was in the filename and page title,
as well as a comment on the page. I made sure I had a link from my homepage with the keyword in the anchor text. Uploaded my page on the 24th January 2006, and I sat back and waited. At this point my site was brand new, My site was only a few weeks old, with no PR or backlinks.
